Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) in Residential Districts

The Commissioners of Barnesville will hold a public hearing concerning proposed Ordinance No. 2026-03 – Accessory Dwelling Units, amending the Town of Barnesville Zoning Ordinance to establish definitions and standards for accessory dwelling units (ADUs) in compliance with Maryland State law (Title 4, Subtitle 5 of the Land Use Article)

The proposed Ordinance authorizes the development of one ADU as a permitted accessory use on lots with a single-family detached dwelling in the RA and BRDT Zones, subject to objective development standards and health approvals.
